For this assignment, I worked in the PR department of an imaginary technology company called Tech Innovations, Inc. I was asked to write a press release introducing a new product, the TechMagic SmartGlove, a wearable device that integrates with various smart home devices, allowing users to control their home environment with simple hand gestures.

Follow-up press releases addressed claims that three people had their hands were burned by the Smart Glove, as well as that of a former Tech Innovations employee who said the CEO knew about the glove’s potential dangers before its release.

For this assignment, I wrote a professional press release from NAU’s School of Communication to the broader university audience. I chose to write about Cheyanne Mumphrey, '16 and '19 alumna, who was honored with the 2025 Associated Press–Robert R. Munson Alumni Achievement Award in Journalism on Nov. 11.
