About

Abbey Sobelman is a fourth-year student at Northern Arizona University (NAU) pursuing dual degrees in communication studies and journalism with a minor in public relations.

She is assistant copy editor of The Lumberjack, NAU's student-run newspaper. On The Lumberjack, she works closely with the copy chief and editorial staff to gather a bird’s-eye view of The Lumberjack and implement consistency into all content. She copy-edits content for AP Style, grammar and integrity in addition to optimizing all content for presentation on the website.

Abbey has worked on KJACK Radio, NAU's student-run radio station, since her first semester of college. Previously, she staffed the station’s promotions and music departments. Now, she acts as social media and website manager, and is responsible for promoting and publicizing content through the timely use of social media.

Abbey works for NAU’s Advancement Foundation as a communications and social media assistant and produces text posts, photographs, graphics and short-form videos for the their alumni Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn platforms.

She also co-founded PLETHORA magazine, an independent online magazine run by writers, photographers and videographers who share a passion for music, film, literature, lifestyle and entertainment.

In her free time, Abbey can be found at a concert, in the local cinema or traveling. She has visited 31 states, 16 countries and 3 continents and studied abroad three times.

She is extremely passionate about music, film, journalism and travel and hopes to forge a career that combines these interests.
